At Hindsight is 20/20, our mission is to not only empower high school students with the invaluable wisdom of life experiences, but also to help our speakers by giving them a night indoors and some food, clothing, and/or some money for their time. We believe that sharing real-life stories can inspire young minds and help them navigate their future choices more effectively. We also believe in rewarding our speakers for sharing their hard-earned lessons. But to you and the students, the talks are free.
When looking for pictures for this site, I did not see one picture of a homeless person smiling and giving something to someone else, but this is what they'd be doing. We are the ones who would be saying "thank you."
Our founder, Shoshie -- me, got this idea directly from a homeless person. He said he was dying and wanted to give talks to high schoolers about what he would have done differently if he had known different. I told him I would do my best to make it happen.
Why should someone pass away without being able to share their wisdom with the next generation? Especially if that was their dying wish? And how life-changing would it be for a young person to hear what a homeless person learned from their life and wishes they would have done differently? It would be priceless. Unforgettable.

There's a scripture from the Bible that says, "I will always have hope." from Psalm 71:14 and it means a lot to me. I wish that for you, no matter who you are, whether you're homeless or not. Who knows, maybe you can give hope to one of the teenagers. We all need hope, just like we all need love. (And we all need a home, let's not forget.)
I know it's hard to trust, especially when your needs aren't being met. I don't know why you're in the situation you're in, but I do know there is a God, and that He hears prayer, and that He can turn your situation around. It may not happen overnight, but you can never say never.
I'm going to help as many homeless people as I can. I promised God that if He blessed me, that I would help the homeless, and He did bless me. So now I owe you. If God is in favor of this, then He will provide the things I need. He is already providing a car -- one is being given to me! The more I receive, the more I owe! And I pray for the chance to pay my debt!

Shoshie lives in Midtown Sacramento and has worked with the homeless in the past. Here's a picture of Shoshie when she did so. For more recent pictures, see below. Shoshie is the Hebrew version of Suzie. Shoshie also goes by Suzie. She has about two years experience working with nonprofits. She has never before founded a non-profit, but she briefly had her own business doing odd jobs for people. She gave that up to work for Safe Ground in 2011, founded by homeless people, for homeless people. She left them to work for the National Alliance for Mental Illness, but then became ill. She still has an illness. For fun, she likes to take drinks and snacks out to the park where she lives and share with the homeless in her neighborhood. Sometimes she remembers to bring little red Bibles to share. She believes spreading the Word of God is important work.
